Lady Tigers showed improvement

The Red Level Lady Tigers saw much improvement throughout the 2017 softball season.
“We are looking for year-to-year improvement as a team and as individuals,” Red Level head coach Allen Catrett said. “We did that this year. We improved on regular season wins and on overall wins. This program is heading in the right direction.”
Catrett said that improvement came from the Lady Tigers experience.
“Last year, we only graduated one player,” Catrett said. “The girls on this year’s team have been playing and contributing for a while and that experience really helped.”
The biggest improvement was the Lady Tigers’ plate approaches, Catrett said.
“Biggest thing I was this year was that our individual batting averages were up,” Catrett said. “As a whole, our batting average was up a few points, but there were several girls that showed tremendous improvements at the plate.”
The Lady Tiger pitchers also showed improvement, Catrett said.
“Tori Hall and Ashlyn Joyner both brought experience with them to the pitcher’s circle,” Catrett said. “They both did a good job this year. Marianna Vigor pitched more this year than she has in the past, and she did a good job. Those three pitchers did a decent job and they complemented each other very well. One thing that we have to work on for next year is going be limiting walks. The games this year that we did that, we always gave ourselves a chance to win.”
Watching the team improve over the course of the year is something that Catrett said made him proud.
“I think for the most part, we improved as the season went along,” Catrett said. “I was proud of that. We were playing our best ball there at the end of the season. We improved as a team all the way around, and these girls have helped lay the foundation for years to come.”
Catrett said that his four seniors that will graduate from this roster played a big role in this team’s success.
“My four seniors, Meredith Nall, Beth Foshee, Marianna Vigor and Haley White have been big assets to this team,” Catrett said. “They have really helped lay a good foundation for the future players to build on.”
