Locals should get their NOAA weather radios and other devices used to notify them of severe weather alerts ready.
Covington County EMA director Susan Harris said Tuesday morning that there is a slight risk for severe thunderstorms to develop this evening through tomorrow morning.
She said the development is generally west of a line from west of Mobile to southwest of Waynesboro, Miss.
“A marginal risk is expected for all other areas east of the line,” she said. “The main threat will be damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.”
Harris said there is also a flood risk Wednesday evening through Thursday morning.
“There is an elevated risk generally along and west of the I-65 corridor and a limited risk to the east,” she said. “Rainfall totals up to 2 inches with locally higher amounts can be expected.”
