Annie Rae Tillman Jones
Mrs. Annie Jones, 94, of Auburn, Ala., died on April 18, 2017. She was born Dec. 13, 1922 in Covington County, Ala., to the late Bonnie Hill Tillman and Effie Lee Helms Tillman. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Verta Mae Tillman Wyatt; her brothers, Farrell Hill Tillman and Hoyt Hardy Tillman; and by her loving husband of 63 years, ZT Jones.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her daughters, Shera Ann Jones Taylor (James) of Newnan, Ga., and Teresa Dianne Jones Woodley (Stephen) of Auburn; son, Laird Rickey Jones (Tina) of Jackson, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Meredith Leigh Taylor Ivey (Russell) of Owens Crossroads, Ala., Mark Brandon Taylor (Brianna) of Marietta, Ga., Sean Travis Woodley of Auburn, Dr. Christen Michelle Woodley of Palm Harbor, Fla., Hannah Maria Elacqua Jones and Christina Elacqua Jones of Jackson, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Brandon James Ivey, Christine Leigh Ivey and Sarah Jane Taylor; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker who supported her husband and children in all of their activities and enjoyed working in her yard. She was especially proud of her yard in Auburn, winning Yard of The Month a number of times. She supported ZT in his activities with the Auburn War Eagle Lions Club and while he served as District Governor of the International Lions Club of Alabama. She was active in the auxiliary of the American Legion and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. After ZT’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling to the many gatherings of friends who enjoyed gospel singing. She was musically talented, both in the piano and in singing and once performed on a local radio station in Andalusia, with her husband, twin sister and brother-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock on Sat., April 22, 2017, at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home, 1500 Frederick Rd., Opelika AL. Interment will follow in Auburn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gordon Michael Cartwright
Gordon Michael Cartwright, age 17, passed away on Tues., April 18, 2017, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
A funeral service will be held on Sat., April 22, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Straughn High School Football Stadium. Interment will follow in Able Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Fri., April 21, 2017, at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel.
He is survived by his parents, Rick and Christy Cartwright of Gantt; sister, Ginnee Cartwright of Gantt; brothers, Kenny Cartwright and Ryan Stotts both of Abilene, Texas; grandparents, Ron and Rowena Yates of Gantt; grandfather, Frank Cartwright of Aspermont, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will accept flowers or memorials in Gordie’s name may be made to Straughn Band Boosters.

Marlin D. Dickens
Mr. Marlin D. Dickens, age 86, passed away on Wed., April 19, 2017, in Bay Minette, Ala.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Fri., April 21, 2017, in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Brother Jim Walker officiating the service. A visitation will be on Friday from 11:30-12:45 at Foreman Funeral Home.
He is survived by nieces and nephews, Felisha (Larry) Morris of Andalusia, Jelane White of McCalla, Ala., Miles White of Guntersville, Ala., Hazel Gallagher of Lynchburg, Va., and several other nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews, Leigh Ann O’Neal, Shelley Copeland, Samantha McCart, and Jamie Wages.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Louise Meadows Dickens; his sisters, Tessie Hayes, Leora Haswell, Mary Compton, and Iva White; and brothers, Willard Dickens, James Dickens, and Earnest Dickens.

Bonnie Mae Nelson Allen
Mrs. Bonnie Mae Nelson Allen went to be with her Lord on her 100th birthday, April 19, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 21, 2017, at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services. The Rev. Leroy Cole will officiate. Special music will be provided by Larry Shaw. Burial will follow in Red Oak Baptist Church cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to charity of one’s choice.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Allen Shaw; grandchildren, Coral (Lewis) Porch of Loveland, Okla., and Joshua Shaw of Pass Christian, Miss. Great-grandchildren are Kristen (Darren) Huffman of Opp and Kathryn Porch of Loveland, Okla.. Great-great grandchildren are Chloe and Sofie Huffman of Opp; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert Lace Nelson and Myrtis Ardella Hart Nelson; siblings, Grace Maddox, Toxie Deal, Mavis Battle, Mamie Glass, Gilbert Nelson, Jr., and Kenneth Giddens.
Mrs. Allen was born April 19, 1917, in Covington County, Ala. She went to school at the Stanley School in the Stanley Community and East Three Notch School. She married Bascom Asberry (Pop) Allen on Jan. 27, 1945. Mr. Allen died Dec. 9, 1993. At the age of 12, Bonnie accepted Jesus as her Lord at Judson Baptist Church. September 1958, Bonnie moved her membership to West Highland Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her health declined.
Bonnie worked at the Alatex from 1935 -1950 in Unit B. In 1967, she returned to the work force and was employed at Church Street School Cafeteria until she retired in 1983.
