Lansing grabbed three runs in the opening inning and held off a late rally from the Lady Saints to win the final game 6-5.

Ashley Elmore reached on a single to start the bottom of the third inning and later came around to score off of an error.

The Lady Saints added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning when Emily Brown drove in Summer Simmons with a double to cut the Lansing lead down to 4-2.

After Lansing added a run in the top of the fifth inning, the Lady Saints continued to fight back into the game.

Bethea drove in Kinsaul with a sacrifice fly and then Mara Morse drove in Jessica Dickson to make the score 5-4 heading into the sixth inning.

“We started out the day kind of rough,” Lady Saints’ head coach Tiffany Taylor said. “We had a lot of errors and those always come back to bite you in the end. At the first of the day, we struggled at the plate, but we were able to get things going there in the second game. One thing about this group, no matter how much they are down, they are never going to give up the fight. That is something about them that always makes me proud. I thought our pitchers did a good job today of eliminating walks and getting ground balls when they needed them. We have some work to do, but we are going to be fine.”
