The Straughn Tigers varsity boys’ basketball team saw their season come to an end on Tuesday night with a 59-40 loss to Daleville in the Class 3A sub-regionals.
Daleville jumped off to a 15-11 lead after one period of play.
Hank Peeples drained a pair of 3-pointers and added another bucket to lead the Tigers in the first period.
Daleville’s defensive pressure was too much for the Tigers in the second period, as the Warhawks went up 25-16 at halftime.
The Tigers continued to battle and got 15 points in the final period, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the big lead that Daleville accumulated over the first three periods.
Keaun Samuel and Peeples finished the night with 12 points each.
