The Florala Wildcats put up strong fights, but both the girls’ and boys’ squads were eliminated from the Class 1A, Area 2 tournament Tuesday night in Pleasant Home.

The Lady Wildcats fell behind big early and couldn’t claw back into the game against Kinston.

“We just didn’t come out and play like we should have,” Florala head coach Troy Stewart said. “Finally there at the end we started playing better, but by then it was too late.”

BOYS

HOUSTON COUNTY 35, FLORALA 22

In the boys’ contest, it was a low scoring affair and one bad period cost the Wildcats a chance at a win.

Florala went into stall mode to enter the second period and held the ball the enter frame.

At halftime, Florala was down 8-7.

Houston County came out strong in the third and built a 19-9 lead heading into the fourth.

Shawn White led the Wildcats with 7 points.
