Contestants are being sought for the 2017 Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo Beauty Pageant.

Set for March 4, 2017, the pageant is open to ages 6-21.

The event is hosted by the Opp Chamber of Commerce.

There will be an optional, but encouraged, rehearsal on Fri., March 3, at 6 p.m. for ages 6-11 and at 7 p.m., for ages 12-21.

The following age groups are available:

• 6-8 must wear pageant attire, fee is $40;
• 9-11, must wear pageant attire, fee is $40;
• 12-14, must wear pageant attire, fee is $50;
• 15-17, must wear pageant attire, free is $50; and
• 18-20 (must be single, never married), must wear pageant attire and fee is $100.

There is also an optional photogenic category.

Cost is $25.

Those who wish to participate must submit a 5×7 head shot only by March 3.

If you win, you must be willing to participate in all fundraising activities for the promotional benefit of the rodeo.

Winners in each age group must be present on Sat., March 11, at 11:30 a.m., at Channell-Lee Stadium.

Cash prizes will be available for winners in the 18-21 age group. Younger winners will receive a crown, sash, flowers and special gift.

In the 18-21 category, the winner will receive $1,000; first alternate will receive $500 and second alternate will receive $250.

Admission to the pageant is $10 per person; however, contestants will receive one pass.
