Much on tap at Saturday’s 2017 Cancer Freeze

The schedule for Saturday’s Cancer Freeze, set for Lake Jackson in Florala, is as follows:
- 7 a.m. until noon: fishing tournament. Cost is $50 per boat, with two people allowed per boat. Contact Richard Reeves at 850-652-3516 to enter. The event is sponsored by Sporting Lifestyles in Andalusia.
- 7 a.m. until 10 a.m., Pancake and Sausage breakfast. Cost is $5 per person. Children 10 and under eat free with an adult.
- 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., LifeSouth blood/platelet drive;
- 8:45 a.m., all 5K participants meet at amphitheater for National Anthem. Sponsored by Merrifield & Pilcher Realty.
- 9 a.m., 5K starts at airplane; finish line is marked at Lakeshore Boulevard. Kids run immediately following.
- 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Inflatables for the children sponsored by Spacewalk of Andalusia. Parents are required to stay with their children. No fee, but donations are being accepted for recipients.
- 9 a.m., Tiny B’s Bake sale, manned by members of First United Methodist Church of Florala.
- 10 a.m. – TJ’s Tiger Flight balloon release, $3 each or 2 for $5. Release every hour on the hour with church bells.
- 10 a.m., opening ceremonies at amphitheater (meet past and present recipients, 5K awards will follow).
- 10 a.m., car show located on 4th Street, one block west of lake building. Contact carshow@cancerfreeze.org for more information. Awards set for 1 p.m. The Little Smok House will be located at Dorothy’s House of Flowers selling barbecue.
- 10:30 a.m., Shave Your Lid for A Kid, $10 per person. Under the age of 18 must have parental consent.
- 11 a.m., Chili cook-off. Vote with your spare change. Winner is pot with most money.
- 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., carriage rides provided by High Horse Farm LLC. $5 per person. Kids ages 6 and under are free with adult
- Noon, Organizer Caleb Davidson will ski to kick off water events. $25 fee, includes T-shirt and wristband. Signups begin at 11:45. Participants under 18 must have parental consent.
- 1 p.m., Live auction begins. Raffle drawing will also be at this time.
