Bulldogs bounce back

The No. 2-ranked Andalusia Bulldogs (16-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season with 51-45 win over the Elba Tigers Saturday in Elba.
In the opening period, the Tigers and the Bulldogs came out battling, with the score knotted at 14 all.
Richman Singletary led the way for Elba in the opening period.
B.J. Anderson had 6 points in the opening frame for the Bulldogs. Trey Wilkerson and Adam Peek each dropped in 3-pointers in the first period.
The Bulldogs pushed forward in the second period behind another 6-point performance from Anderson to give Andalusia a 28-25 lead at halftime.
Zack Woods, Ke’Shun Townsend, Jaden Brown and Wilkerson each chipped in 2 points for the Bulldogs in the second period.
Andalusia’s defense surged in the third period and limited the Tigers to just 7 points.
R.J. Drish knocked home a 3-pointer in the third and Wilkerson added 4 points.
Anderson added another 6 points to his night’s total in the third period to help give the Bulldogs a 43-32 lead heading into the final frame.
Both teams continued to battle it out in the fourth period, but the Bulldogs were able to hold on for a 51-45 victory.
Anderson had 3 points in the period, Glen Crayton buried a 3-pointer and Alex Sheridan tacked on a bucket to help lead the Bulldogs to victory in the final period.
Anderson finished the night with 21 points to pace the Bulldogs. Wilkerson came in with 9 points in the win.
The Bulldogs will be back in action tonight when they travel to Monroe County for an area contest.
On Thursday, the Bulldogs will back home to take on W.S. Neal. Action begins with the B-team squads at 4:30 p.m.
