Samson’s Shane Owens will not perform at Sunday’s Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo this year.
It was previously announced that Owens would perform, but rodeo officials say he had a conflict in his schedule.
Rodeo officials are working to get local entertainment such as Ben Norris, Garrett Seago, Artie Rodriguez and Martin McDaniel.
Country music’s Chris Janson will play Saturday night at 8 p.m., and others will be scattered throughout Saturday and Sunday.
Confederate Railroad’s playing time has yet to be determined.
The event is set for March 11 and 12 at Channell-Lee Stadium.
The committee decided for sure that the ticket prices are $10 per day for adults. Organizers will be handing out free tickets to children at area schools and other places. Children 6 and under get in free and children 7-12 who do not have a ticket must pay $10. Those who have a ticket must come with a paying adult.
In other business, the rodeo committee discussed limiting the number of people who may eat at the senior center.
Last year’s bill was between $3,500 and $4,000.
There was also discussion on whether to do a buy out for the meal charge on the bands, but it was ultimately decided that it looked better to have a catered meal.
“Catering for the band says welcome to our town,” board member Emilee Gage said. “Here’s a home cooked meal.”
