Eagles sweep Bulldogs

The Pleasant Home Eagles’ basketball teams picked up a sweep on Tuesday night in Kinston to remain undefeated in Class 1A, Area 2 play.
GIRLS
PLEASANT HOME 48, KINSTON 15
In the opening varsity contest, the Pleasant Home Lady Eagles wasted little time putting away the Lady Bulldogs with a 48-15 victory.
The Lady Eagles took command of the game early behind several big buckets from River Baldwin and Hope Gunter.
Baldwin led the way for the Lady Eagles with 21 points in the win.
Gunter finished the night with 11 points.
BOYS
PLEASANT HOME 62, KINSTON 40
In the final game of the evening, the Pleasant Home Eagles rolled out a 62-40 victory over Kinston to moved to 3-0 in area play.
Robert Scott and Walt Weaver each had a pair of 3-pointers in the opening period to help kick start the Eagle offense.
Nic Woods found fire in the second period has he buried home four 3-pointers to give the Eagles a nice advantage heading into halftime.
Weaver picked up 7 points in third period to keep the Eagles out front.
The Eagles continued to pour the pressure on the Bulldogs as the entered the fourth period with a sizeable advantage.
In the fourth period, the Eagles got a couple of big buckets from Garrett Barton to keep Pleasant Home in control of the ball game.
Tyler Myrick also chipped in four points in the final period to help the Eagles to victory.
Weaver led the way for the Eagles with 17 points in the victory.
Scott finished the game with 15 points and Woods added 13 points.
“We played well in spurts,” Eagles’ head coach Troy Turman said. “We had a really strong second quarter, and I thought we played well in a tough road environment. I’m proud of our team and we will work in practice to make adjustments.”
