Sgt. Jody Scott has served the citizens of Andalusia for more than 15 years.

Before making his career at APD, he previously worked with the Covington County Sheriff’s Office, Red Level Police Department, Conecuh County Sheriff’s Department and Tactical Securities in Montgomery.

Sgt. Scott says that while on duty his favorite times to work are on Sunday evenings, enjoying the peace and quiet that most Sundays bring.

He is an avid fan of the Florida Gators, and one of his favorite things to do in his spare time is to watch a good movie.

His favorite meal is a steak, medium, loaded baked potato and a garden salad.

When asked why he chose law enforcement as a career Sgt. Scott said, “I wanted to make a difference in the lives of my family, children, and community.” He offered the following advice for those who may be interested in law enforcement as a career, “Do not make the decision to get into law enforcement lightly, it’s a lifestyle change for life. It’s a family and brotherhood like no other. It also makes you a target of ridicule and disdain to the rest of the world at times, but your brothers and sisters in blue always have your back.”

His career goals include to continue his work at Andalusia Police Department, continue serving the residents in Andalusia to the best of his ability and to grow and change as the community and department needs.

“Some day I want to retire from Andalusia PD with a distinguished career and have people say, he was a good, fair officer and a good, fair man,” Sgt.Scott.

Chief Paul Hudson said, “We’ve worked together for years. We probably have more stories to tell than can be told.

“One thing remains true about Jody,” Hudson said. “He’s always true to his people. If Jody gives you his word, he’s going to stand by it. I always know that the work Jody is doing is the absolute best. He isn’t an officer who backs down or easily intimidated by anyone or any situation. He’s educated, he’s experienced, and he’s capable of making decisions based on the needs of the situation.

“Again, and I say this weekly, he’s a great officer and a wonderful asset to APD and the citizens in Andalusia,” Hudson said. “We’ve got a great group of men and women, employees like Sgt. Scott make my job that much easier”
