The LBWCC Saints’ baseball team signed a pair of high school seniors last week in Reid Whitaker and Trevor Shelton to help bolster their roster for the 2018 spring season.
Whitaker is senior catcher for the Tallassee Tigers.
“We needed some catchers and we really liked him when he came down in the fall,” Saints’ assistant coach Brandon Ware said. “He is good behind the plate and has a good arm. He is a guy that we are really hoping will be able to contribute behind the plate next year.”
Shelton plays third and first base at Sparkman.
“Trevor is a big strong kid,” Ware said. “We will be losing both of our corner infielders after this year, and he is a guy that we hope can step in a play next year.”
With the additions for Whitaker and Shelton, the Saints have five total commits for the 2018 season.
The early commits for the Saints are Jamison Morris from Faith Academy, Trey Simmons from Enterprise and Parker Griffin from Providence Christian.
