The Pleasant Home Eagles put in a strong effort on Tuesday night, but fell on the road to Samson in varsity boys’ and girls’ basketball action.
In the girl’s game, the defending 2A state champions toppled the Lady Eagles 63-35.
“They are a very good basketball team,” Lady Eagles’ head coach Jerry Davis said. “There wasn’t a whole lot of scoring for us and we didn’t play all that well, but that had a lot to do with what they were doing to us.”
Davis said that despite the loss, the Lady Eagles aren’t hanging their heads.
“It was tough loss, but it’s not the end of the world,” Davis said. “With our inexperience, we just weren’t ready for them, but we will learn from this and we will be better the next time we take the court.”
Samson knocked off the Eagles in the varsity boys’ game by a final of 65-49.
“We got off to a rough start, but we outscored them 11-1 in the second quarter,” Eagles’ head coach Troy Turman said. “This was a tough road game against a very good opponent.”
Robert Scott led the Eagles with 19 points.
In B-team action, the Eagles topped Samson 33-25. Marvin Fantroy was the top scorer for Pleasant Home with 8 points.
