Gordon Lewis Hare
Gordon Lewis Hare, age 82, passed peacefully from this life on Oct. 24, 2016. The family will receive friends Thurs., Oct. 27, 9 – 10 a.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home with funeral service immediately following visitation. Graveside service will be Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Cedar Grove Church of Christ Cemetery in Andalusia.
Mr. Hare, a resident of Madison County for 13 years was born on Feb. 22, 1934, in Andalusia. He enjoyed visiting the sick, attending Men’s Prayer Breakfast and participating in the World Bible School Program. He was loved by all who knew him. Mr. Hare went to Pleasant Home High School in Andalusia and retired from Goodyear Tire Company after 30 years of employment. He was a veteran of the Army, having served for two years. Mr. Hare was known for being very loyal and loving to his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, OC and Martha Hare, his son Steve Hare, his wife of 53 years, Lanette Hare.
Survivors include his wife; Martha K. Hare, daughters; Kay (Mike) Brown of Madison, Donna (Don) Morrison of Abilene, Texas, and son Brian (Jackie) Hare of Dothan. Mr. Hare was the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren; Jonathan Brown, Huntsville, Matthew (Allison) Brown of Dallas, Texas, Rachel (Josh) Farhat of Huntsville, Josh Morrison of Austin Texas, Jessica and Jennifer Morrison of Abilene, Tenn., Whitney (Kayton) Stoyak of Dothan, Ala., Jeremy Hare and Alex (Danielle) Hare of Andalusia, April Coleman and Stephen (Phuangphet) Hare of Foley, Ala. He is survived also by two sisters, Judy (Jody) Dillard of Andalusia, and Rosalyn (Lamar) Grissett of Prattville. He was blessed with 10 great-grandchilden.
The family wishes to thank the employees of In Good Hands Caregivers for the devoted care they gave to him. They are Sarita Timmons, Deneka Lockett, Sandy Williams, and Gertrude Grant. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Madison Academy and World Bible School and Agape.
