The Straughn Tigers led for a good portion of the ballgame, but Daleville bounced back in the final quarter to knock off Straughn 48-37 Friday night in Daleville.
“We came out a played really well in the first half,” Straughn head coach Chris Wilson said. “Really we played well for three quarters, but mistakes cost us in the fourth.”
After Straughn was on top at halftime, Daleville picked up two interceptions and kickoff return for a touchdown to help set up the fourth quarter comeback.
“We just made too many mistakes and turned the ball over in the fourth quarter,” Wilson said. “We had chances to win, but the mistakes really cost us.”
Straughn came out and quickly established the passing game against Daleville.
Brock Hammett led the way with 246 yards passing and three touchdowns.
“We passed the ball effectively in the first half,” Wilson said. “We had several passing touchdowns in the first half, but we missed some catches in the second half.”
Matt Worley had two touchdowns for the Tigers.
Hank Peeples, Caleb Evers and Jacob Hawkins each had one touchdown each.
Straughn will be back at home next Friday with a region match up with Slocomb.
