The Pleasant Home Eagles had a tough match Friday night as they fell to undefeated Georgiana 57-9 in Georgiana.
“They are fast,” Pleasant Home head coach Chris Mason said. “That was the fastest team that we have played all year. Every time we turned around they were scoring a touchdown. We just couldn’t keep up with their speed.”
Georgiana hopped out front and never let up on the Eagles.
Just before halftime, the Eagles’ D.J. Worley split the uprights for a 30-yard field goal.
“That was something we haven’t been able to do much of,” Mason said of the field goal. “I was proud of that and that is exciting for us going forward.”
The Eagles added a touchdown the time expired in the fourth quarter to make the score 57-9.
Garrett Barton connected with Nic Woods on a 50-yard touchdown as the clock struck zero.
“Our kids never gave up,” Mason said. “That’s one thing that I’ve been proud about all season. These kids never quit fitting.”
The loss knocks the Eagles out of playoff contention, but Mason said that they still have achievable goals.
“We can’t make the playoffs, but we can still have a winning season,” Mason said. “We are going to look to close out strong in these final two games.”
Next Friday, the Eagles travel to Red Level to take on the Tigers.
“That scoring play gave us a little momentum going into Red Level week,” Mason said. “Our kids are looking for redemption after last year’s game against Red Level.”
