Opp downs Providence

Opp looked to remain undefeated in region play as they took on Providence Christian in a tough road test.
Penalties forced the Bobcats to punt on their first possession after Providence fumble.
The Eagles scored on their second possession for a 6-0 lead after one.
Opp regrouped and poured on the offense in the second quarter.
On two straight drives Reggie Thompson connected on touchdown passes of 48 yards and 45 yards.
Hennis Washington caught the 48 yard pass and Orlando Lacey caught the 45 yard score.
Up 16-6 Lacey scored just before the half on an end around for a 22-6 halftime lead.
Opp continued to score to start the second half. Thompson socred from 35 yards out for a 30-6 lead just two minutes into the half.
After an Opp fumble Providence scored to cut the lead to 30-14. After a 20 yard holding penalty on third and long Thompson hit Washington for a 70 yard strike and a 36-14 lead.
Thompson scored on the final play of the third quarter for a 43-14 lead. Providence scored the only touchdown of the fourth quarter with Opp getting the win 43-22.
Reggie Thompson led the Bobcats both in the air and on the ground. Thompson had 96 yards on 10 carries with 2 touchdowns and had 172 yards passing on 5 of 12 passing and 3 touchdowns. Hennis Washington caught two passes for 118 yards both for touchdowns. On defense Washington had 11 tackles as did Spurlin Kelley to lead the Bobcats.
OHS head coach Brent Hill said he was really proud of how all three aspects — offense, defense, and special teams — responded to a difficult regional opponent.
