The Straughn Tigers (2-1) look for another big region win this week as they host Class 3A, Region 2 foe Wicksburg (1-2) Friday night at Tiger Stadium in Straughn.

Straughn holds the all-time lead in the short series with a 3-2 record over Wicksburg.

Straughn won the previous match up 21-20, but the two teams haven’t met up since 1995.

This season,  Straughn comes into the game with a 2-1 overall record and 1-1 region record after knocking off Providence Christian last week.

Straughn’s only blemish on the season came at the hands of the No. 3-ranked Opp Bobcats.

The Tigers have scored 102 points this season and have given up 117.

Wicksburg comes into the match on two-game losing streak after falling to Daleville and Opp in back-to-back weeks.

Wicksburg won their first game of the season to Geneva County 56-26, but haven’t fared as well the past two weeks.

Last week, Wicksburg was defeated by Opp 28-16.

This year, Wicksburg has scored 105 points and given up 95 points.

Straughn and Wicksburg are scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m., Friday night in Straughn.
