LBWCC is seeing a higher enrollment this summer over last year.
“At this point with the full session and the first mini-session under way, enrollment is up slightly for the summer term this year,” said LBWCC public information office and director of marketing Renee LeMaire. “However, the second mini-term starts July 7 and will increase total enrollment for this summer.”
LeMaire said that the total for last year’s entire summer enrollment, including both mini-sessions, was 889.
So far this summer, enrollment is 892.
This summer is also higher than 2014, when 839 students were enrolled. That number was down 4.98 percent from 2013.
Credit hour comparison is 7,083 for this year, compared to the entire summer last year at 7,250.
“Additional hours will be added with the second mini-session this summer, so we may wind up with more credit hours this year, too,” she said.
LeMaire said summer is an ideal time for students home for summer from their four-year institutions to pick up some classes while paying half the cost at LBW.
“It is also a good time for students who may have carried a smaller load of classes to catch up or get ahead in their plan of study,” she said.
Many technical programs that are three semesters or longer require attendance in summer to complete the program as planned, she added.
