A Florala woman has been charged in a bank robbery in Kentucky, according to several news sources in the Bowling Green area.
oth WBKO and The Bowling Green Daily News reported that Colleen Sue Watkins of Florala, Ala., has been charged with robbery first.
The robbery of Citizens First Bank in Bowling Green occurred Tuesday morning. Watkins was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Tennessee.
A suspect described as an older white male in a tan shirt with white across the shoulders, khaki pants and black hat entered the bank and demanded money. He did not show a weapon.
He is believed to have been picked up by an accomplice driving a red van. That van was pursued into Tennessee. When officers attempted to stop the van, Watkins, who was driving, stopped, but then fled once officers stepped from their vehicles, the newspaper reported.
In Tennessee, law enforcement officers used spike strips, and the vehicle began to slow from a flat tire. A male passenger jumped from the vehicle and fled into a wooded area, where he remained at large Tuesday night.
Additional charges against Watkins are possible, the newspaper reported.
