Florala resident Pamela Cable will introduce her new novel, The Sanctum, at a book signing at 6:30 this evening at the Rodney J Evans Civic Center at Lake Jackson, 439 Victoria Lane, Florala.
The event includes food and door prizes.
The Sanctum is a Christian novel, she said, about a 5-year-old who accidently killed her parents in 1946. She is thrown into the care of her scheming and alcoholic grandfather, and survives by her quick wit, and the watchful eye of an elderly black man, Gideon. In 1959, as equal rights heats up the South, authorities accuse Gideon of stealing a watch and using a Whites Only restroom. Neeley, now 13, determines to break him out of jail.
