Covington County Veterans Memorial

Col. (Ret.) Clyde Northrop will be the speaker for the annual Memorial Day service at the Covington County Veterans Memorial.

Local veterans service officer Brian Foshee will be master of ceremonies.

The service is set for 10 a.m. Sat., May 28, 2016.

Walk for the fallen Monday

Red Level V.F.W. Post 4388 will hold a “Walkin for the Fallen” event Monday morning.
The 2.5-mile walk will begin at First Baptist Church of Andalusia and end at the Covington County Veterans Memorial Park.
Contributions can be mailed to V.F.W. Post 4388, Attn. Quarter Master Robert King, 4861 Oglesby Road, Red Level, AL 36474.

Opp service

The city of Opp and the local AMVETS chapter will hold a Memorial Day Service Mon., May 30, at 10 a.m., in Peaceful Acres Memorial Garden.
There will be a tent and chairs available,” said Opp Mayor John Bartholomew. “This event has continually grown each year and many of our area’s veterans come to remember their fellow brothers and sisters who fell and served.”
Circuit Judge Ben Bowden will speak.
