An Opp man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly sexually abusing several children.

Accor-ding to Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald, the criminal investigation division began an investigation earlier this month after complaints were filed with them in reference to several children under the age of 12 being sexually abused by a family friend or acquaintance at the home of the suspect.

OPD arrested Wellington Emanuel Clarke, 31, for sexual abuse of a child under 12 and luring a child some place in order to perform or propose sexual acts.

Both are felonies.

Clarke is being held on a $90,000 bond.

The case is still under investigation by the OPD, Covington County District Attorney’s Office and the Covington County Department of Human Resources and more charges may be filed at a later date.
