Pleasant Home has made steps in the right direction after ending a long losing streak in 2015, and the Eagles are preparing to continue that path in the 2016 AHSAA football season.
Pleasant Home enters 2016 in the always tough Class 1A, Region 2.
The Eagles will begin 2016 action with a preseason jamboree at Mobile Christian on Aug. 19. That game will be played at Lamar Harrison Stadium in Mobile.
In week one of the regular season, Pleasant Home will hit the road for a non-region match up with Class 1A, Region 1 opponent Fruitdale. The Eagles and Pirates have never met in a regular season game, but Pleasant Home defeated the Pirates in a spring jamboree in 2015. That game will be on Aug. 28, at Fruitdale High School.
Pleasant Home will host McKenzie in week two on Sept. 02 for the first region contest of the season. McKenzie currently owns a 4-8 lifetime record over Pleasant Home.
Things don’t get easier in week three when the Eagles host Class 1A powerhouse Brantley on Sept. 9 for the second region game of the year.
The Eagles remain at home in week four when they take on Houston County on Sept. 16 for another region contest. Pleasant Home and Houston County have split games in their only two previous games.
On Sept. 23, the Eagles take a break from region play when they go on the road to take on McIntosh. This will be the first ever meeting between the two schools. McIntosh won just one game in 2015.
The following week the Eagles stay on the road, but this time they will only have to travel a few miles down the road to region and county rival Florala. That game will be on Sept. 30. The Eagles own a lifetime record of 10-6 over the Wildcats.
The Eagles return to the nest on Oct. 7 when the Kinston Bulldogs make the trip to Pleasant Home for a region contest. The series between Kinston and Pleasant Home is currently knotted at 8-8.
Pleasant Home gets back on the road on Oct. 14 for a region contest against Georgiana. That series is currently tied at three wins each.
The final region game of the season comes on Oct. 21 when the Eagles travel to Red Level to take on the cross-county rival Tigers. Red Level owns a 5-3 lifetime record against the Eagles.
Pleasant Home will complete the regular season with a home game against non-region opponent Zion Chapel High School.
