Right time to peak

The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles have really started to click on all cylinders as they prepare for the first round of the Class 1A South Regional softball tournament against the Kinston Lady Bulldogs in Gulf Shores on Thursday.
“If we pitch well and do the things that we are capable of doing, we like our chances,” Pleasant Home interim head coach Todd Smith said. “Kinston is always a tough team and they have a history of being in Regional and State. They are a strong hitting team and they execute the bunt well.”
For the Lady Eagles, Smith said that they have also began to execute bunts and have started to hit the ball better. It’s been the pitching that Smith says has been the biggest thing for the team.
“Our pitchers have been solid down the stretch,” Smith said. “Abby Walker and Tiffany Knoll have just been outstanding out there. Taylor McGhee hasn’t pitched as much as the others, but when she comes in there she has been electric.”
Even with the Lady Eagles playing strong, Smith said they still can’t be complacent when playing a team like Kinston.
“We will have to play solid, error-free defense,” Smith said. “When we play good defense behind our pitchers, it gives confidence to us at the plate.”
