Many people around Covington County gathered on the Court Square on Thursday to join in the National Day of Prayer.

“Every year there is a time set across the nation for National Prayer Day,” Leroy Cole said. “We as a community wanted to participate so we provided this opportunity for people to come out.”

Those who gathered mingled for a bit and then an impromptu prayer began with many people voicing their prayers to the group.

“It’s important for us as Christians to discuss these things that we need to be in unity on across denominations,” Cole said. “We can express our desires and concerns and become united under one accord.”
