Straughn falls to Brantley

The Brantley Lady Bulldogs used a late rally to knock off the Straughn Lady Tigers 11-6 Monday in Straughn.
Hayden Willis worked around two walks in the opening inning to keep the Lady Bulldogs off the board.
In the top of the second, a single and two walks loaded the bases for the Lady Bulldogs with one out.
A single and error led to three runs, and then Alex Wilcox ripped a double to left to put the Lady Bulldogs on top 5-0 heading into the bottom of the second.
The Lady Tigers loaded up the bases to start the bottom of the second and then a fielder’s choice from Macy Matthews allowed Kristen Peavey to score the first Straughn run of the game.
A fielder’s choice from Dallas Mackoff followed to make the score 5-2.
Two batters later, Molly Stewart came up and laced a single to center that scored Mackoff.
Caroline Fusssell then scored off an error to make the score 5-4 after two innings of play.
After giving up a single to start the third inning, Willis picked up two strikeouts and a ground out to retire the Lady Bulldogs.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Matthew led off with a single and then came around to score of line-drive triple from Stewart.
Cobly Adams followed with a double to tie the game 6-6 heading into the fifth inning.
In the top of the sixth inning, the Lady Bulldogs used five hits to take an 11-6 lead over the Lady Tigers.
Stewart led the way for the Lady Tigers going 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and one run scored.
Matthews finished the game 2-for-3 and one RBI.
