Man gets 3 charges after eluding officer

An Opp man was arrested after he failed to stop for a Drug Task Force officer Thursday evening.
Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald said that a DTF agent observed a 1992 white Chevrolet pickup truck fail to yield at the intersection of Main Street and Cummings Avenue at a high rate of speed.
“The DTF agent activated his emergency lights/ siren and the truck continued to increase speed at 75-plus mph,” McDonald said. “The agent and a Opp Police Department B-shift officer got the truck stopped and arrested Jeffery Gene Carnley, a 30-year of age male resident of Opp for attempting to elude a police officer.
A subsequent investigation led to Carnley also being charged with possession of marijuana second degree and possession of brass knuckles.
He was taken to the Opp City Jail.
