A new pre-K building is being discussed for Straughn Elementary School.

Covington County Board of Education members received basic preliminary plans for the building, which could house as many as eight classrooms on the back side of the elementary school near the current nurse’s station.

Superintendent Shannon Driver said he hopes to have more information to present to the board at its May meeting.

Board member Sonny Thomasson said he hoped the board would use funds it already has for the project.
