Saints owning March

The LBWCC Saints’ baseball team has surely enjoyed the month of March as they have surged to first place in the Alabama Community College Conference’s South Division.
Over the month the Saints have enjoyed two healthy win streaks of at least six games.
The Saints opened up the month with a tough loss to powerhouse Northwest Florida State, but after that LBWCC rolled off six-straight wins.
During the streak, the Saints swept a four-game division series with Wallace-Community College Selma to start conference play 4-0.
The next conference series saw the Saints drop the first two games to Alabama Southern on the road.
Returning home for the final two games of the series, LBWCC knocked off Alabama Southern in consecutive games.
In the final game against Alabama Southern, Saints’ pitcher Jordan Tharpe tossed a no-hitter and struck out five batters in seven innings of work.
For his efforts, Tharpe was named the ACCC player of the week for March 14-20.
The wins started the Saints on their current six-game win streak, which includes a four game sweep of division rival Faulkner State Community College.
On Tuesday, the Saints picked up a two wins to complete the sweep of Faulkner State.
The Saints jumped out front 5-0 after scoring runs in the second, third and fourth innings before the Sun Chiefs were able to push across their first run in the top of the fifth.
LBWCC added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to pick up a 7-2 win.
Taylor Fought led the Saints going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and one run scored in the win.
In the second game, the Saints hammered past the Sun Chiefs for an 11-1 win in five innings.
Faulkner State scored first, but the Saints rallied for seven runs in the bottom of the third to take a big lead.
Trey McMillian and Matthew Harvey paced the Saints as they both finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBI.
