The Straughn Tigers picked up a pair of victories in the opening round of the Class 4A, Area 2 tournament at Straughn on Tuesday.

It was the Lady Tigers who opened up the evening with a 42-25 victory over the Headland Lady Rams.

Straughn started off the game strong and held a 20-12 lead at halftime.

Brentley Armstrong led the Lady Tigers with 12 points in the win.

Lexie Cottle added 11 points for the Lady Tigers.

In varsity boys’ action, the Tigers topped the Rams 51-26.

At halftime, Straughn was on top 23-10.

Keun Samuel and Allan George each had 17 points to led the Tigers to victory.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action on Friday against Andalusia at 6 p.m. for the championship game.

Straughn’s varsity boys will take on Ashford at 7:30 p.m., on Friday for the area championship.
