There will be plenty of high school basketball action the day after Christmas when the 18th annual Red Level Christmas Tournament tips off at the Red Level High School Gymnasium.
As always, the Red Level tournament features a boys’ and girls’ bracket with several teams from Covington County making an appearance.
In the boys’ bracket, Red Level, Andalusia and Straughn are the teams representing Covington County. The other boys’ teams are T.R. Miller, Georgiana, Pike County and Brantley.
“We always try to split the teams up the best way possible and hopefully we will have the two best teams playing in the championship game,” Red Level head coach Allen Catrett said of the bracket layout. “We also tried to put area teams on opposite sides of the brackets.”
On the girls’ side, Red Level and Andalusia are the teams from Covington County, and they will face teams from Brantley, T.R. Miller, Georgiana, Pike County, Flomaton and Dothan.
“There should be a lot of really good matchups on the first day,” Catrett said. “It should be another good tournament like it has been in the past.”
The first game will begin at noon on Saturday with Georgiana and Pike County squaring off in girl’s action. Cost of the tournament is $6 per day.
“We just want to encourage everyone to come out and watch a lot of really good basketball,” Catrett said. “There are a lot of really good teams coming and there should be a lot exciting games.”
