Andalusia’s Alabama Road Contracting Services LLC was awarded the $189,867 low bid for drainage work on Douglas Avenue in Opp.

The Opp City Council OK’d the project.

The Douglas Avenue project is expected to have a $595,000 price tag and the city is expected to contribute $110,000. The rest is being paid for by an ALDOT grant.

The city announced in February that 20 jobs had been saved and another 20 could be added thanks to a grant to help with drainage issues near Global Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing.

The company produces parts and products for airplanes and helicopters, and is in the process of upgrading and expanding facilities.

Two other companies submitted bids: Triple J. Construction from Crane Hill, who submitted a $201,310 bid and Blankenship Contracting from Dothan, who submitted a $249,635 bid.
