‘Person of interest’ identified in Baker homicide

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has developed a person of interest in connection with a murder investigation launched by the discovery of the body of a white male on a parcel of private property off Old River Road near Baker Monday. During the course of the ongoing investigation, the individual was taken into custody Monday on unrelated charges, a release from the department stated.
Glenn David Winstead, 58, of 1006 Valley Road in Crestview is currently charged with a domestic violence injunction violation for possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and possession of marijuana over 20 grams.
A positive identification of the victim has not yet been made.
After developing Winstead as a person of interest Tuesday, OCSO investigators discovered Winstead’s car at the America Best Value Inn in Crestview. The OCSO obtained a search warrant and found three weapons inside the vehicle. Winstead consented to a search of his hotel room, where they found illegal drugs.
Investigators believe the victim could be a Crestview man who had been reported missing over the weekend.
