“We wanted to do something to show the football team that we are behind them,” SGA advisor Cavelle Jones said. “After we decided on painting windows, we went around to a lot of business and asked them if they would allow us to hang a sign or paint their windows and most have agreed to it. We have even had a lot of them contact us on Facebook asking us to come paint their windows.”

Jones said that they were mainly focusing on doing the business along the route that the football team will use to travel to Dadeville.

“We wanted to do it along the football team’s route out of town so that they could see the amount of support the community has for the team,” Jones said.

Other members of Andalusia’s SGA also expressed their reasons for wanting to paint windows and hang signs.

“I’ve got that Bulldog spirit down in my heart,” Lillian Andrews said. “Plus, I’m a cheerleader and that’s what we do.”

Haley Booker wants to show the team that they are supported.

“Just to support the Bulldogs,” Booker said of why she wanted to help paint windows. “We wanted to let them know that we are involved and want them to bring home that ‘W’.”

Sadie Brown also wanted to show support.

“I wanted the team to know that the SGA is behind the Bulldogs,” Brown said.

Tyler Garvin acknowledged the number of years it has been since Andalusia has been this far into the playoffs.

“We haven’t made it past the first round in a long time,” Garvin said. “I think as a town and a community we should support our football team as much as we can.”

Wednesday will be the only day that the SGA members are able to work on the project, but Jones said that she hopes the community will pick it up from here.

“Today (Wednesday), is the only day that we will be able to do it,” Jones said. “It kind of just worked out perfect for us being out of school today, but tomorrow we will be back in school. Hopefully, the community will pick it up from here and do it on their own. I think is so important for us as a community to get behind the kids on this team and really show them that we love and support our Bulldogs.”

Andalusia will travel to Dadeville on Friday night for the second round of the state playoffs.
