Former Bulldog and Crimson Tide star Nico Johnson was picked up by the New York Giants practice squad on Tuesday.
The Giants recently added defensive tackle Montori Hughes from their practice squad after starting defensive tackle Johnathan Harkins sustained a torn pectoral muscle during their win over the Tampay Bay Buccaneers.
Johnson’s pick up comes just three weeks after he was released from the Washington Redskins’ practice squad.
Johnson was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
Johnson played in just games his rookie season after a preseason ankle injury limited his time.
Johnson was released by Kansas City just before the start of the 2014 season even after he led the team in tackles during the 2014 preseason.
Johnson then signed with Cincinnati, where he played in 11 games in 2014.
