Emmett Thomas Childress, Jr.

Mr. Emmett Thomas Childress, Jr., age 82, of Andalusia died Sun., Oct. 04, 2015 in Mizell Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Childress will be held on Wed., Oct. 7, 2015, at 11 a.m. from the First United Methodist Church of Andalusia. The Rev. Jason Thrower will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Childress of Andalusia; and sisters, Louise Truman, Vernell Reynolds, and Lovell Holley, all of Richmond, Va.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Thomas and Mary Childress, Sr., and sister, Mary Liggan.

Margaret Ann Dubose

Mrs. Margaret Ann Dubose, age 71, of Andalusia died Sun., Oct. 4, 2015, at her residence.

Graveside services for Mrs. Dubose will be held on Tues., Oct. 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the Old Bethesda Cemetery in Loango. The Rev. Verni Scott will officiate.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law; Tracy Lawson (Tim) of Andalusia; son and daughter-in-law; Troy Pearson (Barbara) of Deland, Fla.; grandchildren; Kenneth Pearson, Waylon Pearson, Amanda Pearson, Courtney and Travis Lawson; and great-granddaughter Alice Rose Pearson.

 

Francis I. Gomes

Mr. Francis I. Gomes, age 64, a resident of Andalusia and a native of Evergreen, passed away Fri., Oct. 2, 2015 in Opp after a brief illness.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Tues., Oct. 6, 2015, at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Keahey Funeral Home will direct. The Rev. Virgil Adams will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Keahey Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, who was also his high school sweetheart, Mary Gomes, of Andalusia; his son, Christopher Heath Gomes of Wiggins, Miss.; daughters, Stacey (Kevin) Inman of Opp and Heather Gomes of Ohio; his sister, Elaine Sims of Castleberry; six grandchildren, Kaylynn Coleman, Cassie Gomes, Dalton Gomes, Quint Inman, Ethan Inman, and Mason Inman nieces, Rachel DeLoach, Michelle Nelson and Haiden Inman; and nephews, Robert Neeley and Jeremy Sims.

He also is survived by his beloved 19 bird dogs and a special canine baby, Puffer.

Mr. Gomes retired a SMSGT in the Army after 22 years of service. He then served another 15 years as an Army recruiter. He loved to fish and hunt, especially quail. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and was a huge fan of Alabama football.
