Chamber cookout will feature team tie contest

Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce members who participate in an October tailgating-like cookout can help choose a team tie for Andalusia’s Big Shirt.
“This is our way of saying thank you to all of you who continue to invest in the future of Covington County. This is a great way for our members to interact in an informal setting,” Executive Director Chrissie Duffy said. “I feel it is important to get these key stakeholders together often, and sometimes a casual environment is a welcome reprieve from the usual daily activities.”
The evening will include live acoustic music by Jeff Sellers, corn hole on the lawn, a drawing for a YETI bag cooler, and the Rivalry Tie Challenge.
“Everyone who attends will have the opportunity to vote for which team they would like to see represented on the Alatex shirt statue tie,” said Maggie Jones, assistant director. “We just want everyone to come out and enjoy a casual evening and get to know each other better.”
Chamber President Stallion Sasser set a goal earlier this year of adding 50 new members during his term.
“The chamber has signed on 24 new members thus far, which is great, but we need the membership’s help reaching this goal,” Duffy said. “I am encouraging our members to invite a potential member to this cookout, other civic-minded individuals and businesses that would like to join us in our mission of making this a better place to live and work.”
The event is set for 5:30 p.m. on Thurs., Oct. 8, at the Chamber’s offices on River Falls Street.
