David Helms and his wife Chastity have opened Helms Automotive and Key on Hwy. 29N between Sports Shoppe and Covington Pawn, and offer a complete car care and locksmith services.

David has spent 22 years in the automotive service industry, and opened Helms Automotive because he has always wanted to own his own business and saw this as an opportunity to better serve the community.

“His specialty is computer diagnostics and programing,” Chastity said.

David is also ASE certified, which one normally finds at dealership.

David said the thing that sets his business apart from the rest is the computer diagnostics, which are usually found at dealerships and cost a good bit to have done.

Other services provided by Helms Automotive are electrical systems, air conditioning, no starts, oil changes, tune ups, brakes, timing belts, clutches, shocks, struts, wheel bearings, axle shifts, starters, fuel pumps, suspension, water pumps and alternators. They also offer replacement keys and remotes.

“We pretty much do everything expect for tires,” David said.

They will also gladly install customer-supplied parts David said.

David also said that they offer free pickup and drop off services for local customers.

Helms Automotive is open Mon.- Fri., from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.
