The Andalusia Board of Education may be as close as one position away from having its staff in place for the new school year, which starts next week for teachers.

On Monday, the board:

• Accepted the resignation of Tambry Jewell, AJHS, 8th grade English teacher.

• Transferred

–Carrie Capps from AES TABS paraprofessional to AES secretary.

–Sara Mixson, from AHS 9th grade English to career tech teacher

–Marshall Locke from AHS physical ed teacher to AJHS physical ed teacher.

• Hired

–Amanda Hutto as AES fourth grade teacher.

–Rose White as AES TABS paraprofessional

–Jerry Merrill as shop assistant/bus driver

–Angela Seymour as bus route bus driver

–Tyler Wilson as AHS special ed paraprofessional.

–Evan Soles as AJHS and AHS special ed paraprofessional

–Tyler Dent as AHS social science teacher

–Calvin Carpenter as in-school suspension paraprofessional at AHS.

The board hopes to finalize hiring in a special called meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday.
