Andy 14u finished 2nd at state

The Andalusia 14U All-Star baseball team recently came in second place at the 2015 Babe Ruth state tournament in Tallassee.
In game one, Andalusia beat Sylacauga 7-6 in nine innings. After seven innings, the game was knotted at 5-5. Sylacauga took a 6-5 lead in the top of the ninth, but Andalusia battled back in the bottom of the ninth. Hogan Nichols led off the inning with a single, and Brennan Strong followed with a walk. Nichols scored on a passed ball to the game, and Thomas Phillips followed with a single that brought in Strong for the winning run. Jacob Cravey picked up the win.
Andalusia fell in the second game of the tournament 7-6 to Tallessee. Phillips had three hits in the contest and Jake Barefoot and Sebastian Stallworth had two hits each.
In the third game, Andalusia bounced back and defeated Grand Bay 9-7. Barefoot picked up the win on the mound for Andalusia. Jake Walker, Noah Kelley and Strong had two hits each in the win.
Andalusia continued its climb by crushing Central Alabama 14-2 in game one of the single elimination bracket. Barefoot, Stallworth, Strong and Phillips each had two hits. Walker pitched all five innings to pick up the win for Andalusia.
Game five was a rematch against Tallassee, and this time the Andalusia squad was too much for Tallasee as the eliminated Tallassee with a 13-5 win. Stallworth picked up the win on the mound, and also had two hits at the plate. Barefoot and Cravey had three hits each.
In the championship game, Andalusia ran out of steam in a 9-0 loss to Sylacauga. The Andalusia squad only managed three hits against Sylacauga. Sylacauga scored runs in the second, third and fourth innings. After the fourth, Andalusia kept Sylacauga off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game, but just couldn’t push a run across the plate.
“The Andalusia 14U All-Star team would like to thank all of those who came and supported them during the tournament,” Andalusia’s 14U coaching staff said. “Also, a huge thank you to the City of Andalusia for all of their support. Tyler Wilson was with the team and Caitlin Shipman and Andy Wiggins who came up to support the team as well. We couldn’t have been nearly as successful without them.”
