Alabama State Trooper Spokesperson Kevin Cook identified the subject involved in Thursday afternoon’s officer-involved shooting as Opp resident Pierre Gabriel Koellner, 29.

Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald has requested the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) investigate the shooting.

Koellner is in critical condition at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing.
