In other business, the council:

• After meeting in closed session with its attorney, approved a resolution “accepting a full and final settlement of all claims against BP and others resulting from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.” A confidentiality clause ordered by the federal court prevents details from being released.

• Agreed to purchase four sets of turnout gear for the fire department.
