Three-month long investigation leads to bust

After a three-month long investigation, two people have been taken into custody after meth, guns and a large amount of ammo was found.

Drug Task Force Agent Greg Jackson said Friday that agents received word from a confidential informant around 3 a.m., that a load of firearms were coming to the 23798 Indian Creek Road residence in Horn Hill.

Jackson said he was able to observe the suspects carrying firearms from a silver Saturn into the residence, while conducting ground surveillance.

Around 9 a.m., agents were able to get a warrant for the residence from District Judge Julie Moody, Jackson said.

Some 12 guns, including two broken down machine guns, approximately 10,000 rounds of ammunition were found, among other items.

Additionally, Jackson said agents found methamphetamine and prescription pills.

Jackson said James “Moe” Moser and Lisa Rugg have been charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Other charges are pending, Jackson said.

The Alabama Tobacco and Firearms will be here Tuesday.

Jackson said with the number of magazines found at the scene, they are working to find out if the firearms are stolen.

The Covington County Sheriff’s Office, DTF, Incident Response Team, Florala Police Department, Opp Police Department, Andalusia Police Department and the Coffee County Sheriff’s office all participated in the investigation.
