Academics are the foundation of success for Red Level’s valedictorian and salutatorian.
“It is the foundation of a successful future,” Valedictorian Morgan Odom said about the importance of academics.
Salutatorian Phu Do said academics have always been important.
“I wanted to make my parents proud of my achievement,” Do said.
Both Odom and Do will graduate with 4.0 grade point averages on Thursday night at graduation exercises.
Do said his parents, Yen Nguyen and Bao Lee, pushed him to go far in life.
“My parents have pushed me the farthest,” he said. “They want me to achieve the best I can.”
Odom said her mother, Sandra, has never let her doubt herself.
“She’s always made me a better person than I ever thought,” Odom said.
After graduation, both plan on attending Auburn University.
Odom said she plans on getting a double major in philosophy and English literature on her way to a career in book publishing.
Do was a member of the Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta and a Tiger Ambassador at RLHS.
Odom was in the Beta Club, Tr-M Music Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Peer Helpers, Tiger Ambassadors, Student Government Association, the RLHS Marching and Concert Band.
Odom will be attending AU with a slew of scholarships, including the Spirit of Auburn Founders Scholarship, the Mabel Amos Endowed Scholarship, the American Legion Auxillary and the John Simpson Scholarship.
