Members of St. Michael’s Anglican Church received one additional surprise other than Jesus Christ rising from the dead on Sunday — a huge cross made out of lumber.

St. Michael’s church member Frankie Lancaster said when members got to the church, they couldn’t help but notice the cross.

“Nobody knows who did it,” Lancaster said. “It even has the holes where Jesus’ hands and feet were.”

Lancaster said each hole is stained with red paint to signify Christ’s blood from his crucifixion. Additionally, there are leather straps wrapped around the cross section to represent the beating Christ received.

Lancaster said at the top of the cross, there is a sign that has the words “King of the Jews” in four different languages.

The mystery about the cross is that no one knows who brought it to the church and placed it in the ground, Lancaster said.

Upon closer inspection, Lancaster said the person or people who left it there rolled a note in one of the holes.

“The note said ‘welcome to Andalusia. I feel truly blessed through my construction of this cross for you. The Lord is risen. The Lord is Risen, indeed.’”

Lancaster said the note was signed “a believer.”
