New RV park to open in Gantt

About two years ago, business partners and Cypress Landing RV Park and Campground owners, Warren Byrd and Clifton Hall saw a piece of property five miles outside of Gantt and thought it would be a great place for an RV park and campground.
Stretched over a few acres, the RV park and campground is Covington County’s newest addition.
Plans are that the park and campground will open the weekend after Easter.
“Before all of this, this was a piece of land with some trailers on it,” Byrd said.
Byrd said there are 64 hook ups for all-sizes of RVs, and each includes water, electric and sewer access. There are 30 and 50 amp services as well.
Cypress Landing has two bathhouses with showers in both. Additionally, there will be a convenience store and a coin laundry facility for campers.
Sometime soon, two cabins will be built along the fence line on the left side of the property, Byrd said.
On the right side of the property, sits a pavilion and the building that’ll house the store. In between, Byrd said, there will eventually be a restaurant.
“That’s later down the road,” he said.
With a prime spot on Gantt Lake, the campground will also feature a boat landing once a permit is established.
What makes Cypress different from most campgrounds is its “in and out” availability.
“We have a little more than a state park,” Hall said.
Some state parks do cater to RVs and campers.
Right now, the campground is charging $35 per night for RVs. A price break down for monthly and bi-annual visits hasn’t been set, Hall said.
Hall and Byrd, both of Laurel Hill, Fla., said they are excited about opening the campground.
“The bank is real excited,” Hall quipped, adding that the campground is going to be as competitive as all of the rest of them.
The campground’s hours of operation will be determined at a later date.
The campground is located approximately five miles north of Gantt on Hwy. 29.
