Certified personnel to receive $500; support to get $300
Next week’s spring break may be a little more fun that expected for Covington County Board of Education employees, thanks to $165,600 in one-time bonuses approved yesterday.
The board met in a special-called meeting Tuesday morning.
The Covington County Board of Education approved a recommendation to shell out CCS Superintendent Shannon Driver recommended that certified personnel receive $500 each and support personnel receive $300 each as compensation for the recent successful completion of the reaccreditation process.
“This doesn’t really touch what they did,” Driver said about the amount of work teachers and others performed. “It required a significant amount of time, and there was a lot of after hours work.”
Board member Jimmy Rodgers said this is a great idea to award the personnel.
Driver said the bonuses will be paid from the system’s general fund this week.
The county school system will be on spring break next week.
