0318 davis mugA true southern lady of her generation, she devoted her life to supporting and caring for her husband, Dr. Earl F. Davis, their children and their home. Peggy, a Home Economics Major at Auburn University, had the gift of hospitality, which shined brightly as she welcomed friends and guests into the home. One of her fondest memories was the Davis house being used as a gathering place for her children and their friends, where Southern meals and desserts were always available for all to enjoy.

Known for her contagious sense of humor, Peggy was also loving, caring, patient, tactful and courageous; a woman of unwavering morals and strength. She loved being part of her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and many activities. She often referred to herself as “The Chauffeur.”

Peggy grew up in church and was a member of Athens First United Methodist Church for 50 years. She had a simple, but profound faith in Jesus Christ, which gave her strength and comfort, especially in her last days.

Survivors include her children, Lee (Angel) Davis of Watkinsville, Ga., Lisa Davis of Athens and Jay (Pippa Lee) Davis of Barnesville, Ga.; as well as her grandchildren, Megan (Andrew) Kumming, Haley Davis, Jackson Davis and Pippen Davis.
